I was lucky enough to go to a preview of Pride on Sunday morning at the Vue Cinema at Cribbs Causeway.
I knew nothing about the film prior to attending apart from the fact the French raved about it at the Cannes Film Festival (which they rarely do about English film apparently – according to my source e.g. my husband).
The film is based on true life, it follows a group of friends at the London Gay Pride festival in 1984 who stand up for political beliefs and it leads them to a small mining village in Wales to help during the mining strikes. There are some laugh out loud moments (and I rarely laugh out loud it was that good) and some very emotional moments, there are some big stars including Bill Nighy, Andrew Scott (Moriarty in Sherlock), Dominic West, Imelda Staunton.
To describe it in five words I’d say fun, upbeat, emotional, thought provoking. It’s definitely one to watch….go see it!
